Half an hour from Stone Town by boat you will see this interesting Island which is also a home to the Giant Tortoises that were imported from Aldabra Seychelles since 1919. Prison Island is a wonderful place for sun bathing and snorkeling.
This Island was used as quarantine before the British built the prison for the Stone Town in the 1890s. The building never used as a prison though.
